Install Cortex manually.
Download one folder, copy it into Custom pets, and refresh. That’s it.
Download Cortex package-
Download and unzip
Download the Cortex package, then unzip it. You should see one complete folder named
cortex. -
Open the Custom pets folder
In the Codex Desktop App, open:
Profile menu→Settings→PetsUnder Custom pets, select Open folder.

Copy the complete Cortex folder
Move the entire unzipped
cortexfolder—not only the files inside it—into the folder Codex opened.cortex/must containpet.jsonandspritesheet.webp. -
Refresh and select Cortex
Return to:
Settings→Pets→RefreshChoose Cortex from the pet list.
No restart is normally required. Refresh reloads local custom pets. Quit and reopen Codex only if Cortex still does not appear.
